Nikolaos Roumeliotis
Fire Lieutenant General
The Deputy Chief of the Fire Corps, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Roumeliotis, son of Panagiotis, was born in 1969 in Patras.
In 1991 he joined the Fire Department and in 1995 he graduated from the Officers' School of the Fire Academy with the rank of Fire Second Lieutenant.
In 2011 he graduated from the Officers' Training and Post-Training School of the Fire Academy. He has studied at the Hellenic Air Force Fire Safety School and at the Air Force Staff School (ISD). He has been trained at the British Columbia Forest Service in Canada as a "Forest Fire Instructor - Hiking Teams", by the U.S. Forest Service in the "Incident Command System" program. During his career, he has served as an operational officer in the Fire Services Administration of Patras, in the Araxos Regional Fire Department, in the Zakynthos Fire Department, in the 6th S.D.R.U. as Deputy Commander, in the Ikaria Fire Department as Chief, in the Industrial District Fire Department of Patras as Deputy Commander and as Chief of the Infantry Department of the Western Greece Regional Fire Department.
In 2013, he assumed the position of Commander in the 6th Special Disaster Response Unit.
In 2014, he was promoted to the rank of Fire Colonel and appointed as Commander of the Zakynthos Fire Services. From 2015 to 2019, he served as Commander of the Achaia Fire Services.
In 2020 he was promoted to the rank of Fire Brigadier and was appointed as Regional Commander of the Fire Services of Western Greece.
In 2021 he was appointed as Regional Commander of the Fire Services of the Ionian Islands.
In 2022 he was promoted to the rank of Fire Major General and assumed the duties of the Coordinator of Operations for the Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Islands (Zante, Kefalonia, Ithaca).
In 2024 he was promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant General, assuming the duties of Deputy Chief of the Fire Corps. He has participated in and managed numerous firefighting operations to deal with natural and man-made disasters (urban fires, large forest fires, specialized rescues in lakes, rivers, mountainous areas, earthquakes, coastal incidents). He has been promoted to all ranks by choice and has been honored with all the decorations, medals and mementos provided for his rank.
He is a graduate of the Department of Economics of the University of Patras. He speaks English and German. He is married and has two children.
