Curriculum Vitae of Fire Colonel Vassilios Vathrakogiannis

Fire Colonel Vassilios Vathrakogiannis was born in 1971 in Athens, he is married and the father of two children.

He joined the Hellenic Fire Corps in 1996, graduated from the Officers' School in 2002, completed his postgraduate studies in the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the EKPA in the specialty: "Prevention and Management of Natural Disasters" and is a PhD candidate at the University of the West Attica.

He has attended the Schools of: National Security of the Hellenic Police, War of the Air Force as well as Training and Post-Training of Fire Brigade Officers. He has been trained in dealing with natural and technological disasters in various European countries, as well as in the staffing of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, in the context of which he has taken part in exercises, both in Greece and abroad.

He has served in the 1st Special Disaster Response Unit, at the Headquarters of the Fire Corps, at the Investigative Office of Athens, at the Fire Service of Samos, at the 6th Athens Fire Station and the Hellenic Fire Academy. He has taken part in search and rescue operations, both in Greece and abroad.

He is a professor, if. professor and trainer, in the Schools of the Hellenic Fire and Police Academy, as well as a visiting professor in the undergraduate study program of the department "Conservation of antiquities and works of art" in the course "Museum Environment and Preventive Maintenance", likewise in the Inter-institutional postgraduate study program entitled " Museum Studies" in the course "Risk Management and Preventive Maintenance" of the Departments of History & Archeology and Geology & Geoenvironment of the E.K.P.A. in collaboration with the Antiquities & Works of Art Conservation Department of the University of Western Attica.
