Theodoros Vagias
Fire Lieutenant General
The Chief of the Hellenic Fire Corps, Fire Lieutenant General Theodoros Vagias, son of Konstantinos, was born in Militsa, Messinia, in 1967. He is married and has two children.
He joined the Hellenic Fire Corps in 1991 and in 1999 he graduated from the Officers' School of the Fire Academy with the rank of Fire Second Lieutenant.
In 2013 he graduated from the Officers' Training and Further Education School of the Fire Academy.
During his tenure, he has served as Commander of the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management (NCCOCM), as Commander of the Athens Fire Services, as Commander of the Corinth Fire Service, as Director of the Technical Support and Infrastructure Directorate of the Hellenic Fire Corps Headquarters, at the Sparta Fire Service, in Services in Athens and Piraeus and as an instructor at the Fire Department School.
In 2024, he was promoted to the rank of Fire Lieutenant General, assuming the duties of Chief of the Hellenic Fire Corps.
He has managed and coordinated numerous firefighting operations to respond to natural and man-made disasters.
During his professional career, he was promoted to all ranks of the highest officer by choice, received moral rewards, and was honored with many medals, decorations and mementos, including, among others, the Senior Brigade Commander of Honor, the Senior Brigade Commander of the Phoenix, Firefighter Merit 1st Class, the Star of Merit and Honor and the Merit and Honor 1st Class.
